A project is basically a temporary technical solution to a technical problem in the organization. This is usually a one-year or shorter project, although it is necessary to have a longer solution accomplished. When it comes to developing a project, these goals and objectives are needed to be understood by both sides. An important problem may be that from the customer view there are not two solutions that are especially valuable, for example; there is a requirement for solutions that will improve the effectiveness of a department or their organizational work.
Another goal will be on the procurement side, developing the product of the company in order to make now use of the now acquired solution. Other goals may be about satisfying the internal customer by adding new value to the company and to the employees in order to increase the value to them.
The need to use certain records or software in order to feed certain information or portray certain information in a certain to some part of the company. The data feed will either be by the internal customer, another part of the company, or the third party.
In order to complete a project, there are certain steps in order, typically five. These are start-up, process, end-stage, and close-out. Within each of these steps, there are different steps for the different areas of the project. This is because the requirements are different over time, from one project team to another, or due to the need to use different equipment or software.
Start-up is wherein the project is picked up. It is where the team, the management of the company begins. Start-up can begin any that can be gathered up to ready a project. This is where the project is going to be built. This is where the skills are picked up by the team and the organization. The team is brought together, the team is made to feel that they have a stake in the project, and the team members feel motivated to participate. For them this is where a beginning stage.
Process is about doing what needs to be done to get the goals onto the project. This is about making sure that everyone complies with the goals set at the start of the project.
End-stage is about finishing things and then moving on to the next stage. There is not going to be a next stage. Individuals will choose to move on (regardless if they have completed the project or not) or to move on to a new project. It may seem to many to be a problem if there is no need to go on to the next stage. Quality standards are not obtained for each project.
The last stage is closing out. Some forms take order to do away all because of a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP). If the project transaction has to be managed by someone, a closure status must be obtained.
